Hashemi and Hedayat, Two Member Iranian Students Union, Arrested

Mohammad Hashemi and Bahare Hedayat, two member of the central council of Daftar Tahkim Vahdat (Iranian Students Union) were arrested by intelligence on Sunday 13th July. Yesterday morning security forces with the command of Matin Rasekh entered into Hedayat and Hashemi' house and transferred them to Evin prison. Security forces inspected the Bahare Hedayat's home for 3 hours. These two members together with the 5 other members of main council arrested last summer. Their detention was because of strike for protest to the arrests of Polytechnic University students. On the other hand Ali Azizi the other member of Tahkim called to the revolutionary Court for receiving the sentence of the court. Yesterday morning, an unknown man called to the Azizi's family and told that Ali must com to the court otherwise we will issue the approval of his arrest.

 

The New Wave of Students Arrest on the Anniversary of 18 Tir (9 July 1999) in Tehran and Mashhad

mashhad52.JPG With the approach of 9th anniversary of 18 Tir (9 July 1999), overally 11 students arrested by the security forces in Tehran and Mashhad. Ali Gholizadeh, Shahrood University student, Ali Saberi, Amirkabir University student, Ashkan Arshia and Mehdi Ghodsi Ferdowsi University student, Reza Arab the Arshia, Mazandaran University student, are members of the Arbitrary Detention Committee in Mashhad. In Tehran, also, Mehdi khodaei and Salman Sima two student of Azad University together with Majid Asadi the students of Alame Tabatabaei University were detained during this week in Tehran. So the number of the arrested students reached 13 on the threshold of 18 Tir (9 July 1999).

Students Interrupt and Expose the Attempted Assault on a Female Student in Zanjan University

z4.JPG The attempt of the University Professor and head of administration office (vice chancellor) of the University of Zanjan, Hassan Madadi, to offend a female student was revealed by students. On Sunday 15 June, the female student had been called to his office over a disciplinary hearing. She realized the intention of the professor and informed the other students. So, on the due date they broke into the vice president’s office and handed him over to the university guard office (a disciplinary body which monitors students’ activities). As soon as the other students knew about this happening, gathered in sport hall of the campus.

The Report of 12 Days Protest in Tarbiat Moalem University of Karaj

trbtmlm1051.jpg The hunger strike of the students of Tarbiat Moalem University of Karaj started in 29th May in protest to the educational and welfare problems, bad condition of student’s food and the pressures of security guard of the university on students. on Saturday, 31th May the students continued their protest in the University campus in Karaj. During all 12 days totally 126 students joined to the hunger strike program whose 40 of them moved to hospital for physical weakness caused by strike. The hunger strikers spent all12 days in the campus even at nights.

The Pursuit of Arbitrary Detention Committe Meeting on the First Anniversary of Ghassaban, Tavakoli and Mansuri Arrest

nshst2.jpg On Monday 19 May 2008, at the first anniversary of the Polytechnic University Students arrest, Majid Tavakoli, Ehsan Mansuri and Ahmad Ghassaban, a meeting was held by "the Committee of the Arbitrary Detention". The families of the arrested students, students of different universities, some political activists and lawyers participated in this meeting. Ali Nikoonesbati, who was recently sentenced to 5 months imprisonment, was first speaker of this meeting. He pointed out the judicial cases of some student activists with many ambiguities in investigation and legal proceedings.

Jail Sentence Was Finalized Against Amirkabir University Students

ahmadehsanmajid.JPG Despite not having any reliable evidence against students, Saedi, the judge of appeal court, finalized jail sentences for three innocent students of Amirkabir University, Majid Tavakoli, Ehsan Mansoori and Ahmad Ghasaban, under the pressure of intelligence ministry and the prosecutor of Tehran. Based on the appeal court sentence announced today, the sentence of 3 years of jail for Majid Tavakoli, 2 years and half for Ahamad Ghasaban and 2 years for Ehsan Mansoori passed by revolution court, is finalized, but due to the young age of the accused and having no criminal record; he commuted the sentence to one year and half for Tavakoli, one year and two months for Ghasaban and ten months for Mansoori.
